Soft Tissue Conditioning for the Prevention and Management of Peri-Implantitis

Peri-implantitis is regarded as an inflammatory condition characterized by soft and hard tissue breakdown. Being a site-specific entity, soft tissue characteristics are regarded to play a pivotal role in the prevention and management of peri-implantitis. In particular, the presence of keratinized mucosa has demonstrated to be beneficial to prevent biological complications and the recurrence of treated peri-implantitis implants.
