Pikos Hard and Soft Tissue Symposium 2016

Patient Friendly Minimally Invasive Grafting (That Really Works)

Root coverage grafting has progressed from the use of palatal donor tissue to use of allografts. Recipient site preparation has improved from open sites requiring surface incisions to pouch and tunnel preparations with no surface incisions. These advances have produced results demonstrated in controlled trials to be equivalent to the more invasive alternative procedures while enhancing the patient experience during and after surgery. Application of current proven minimally invasive grafting techniques to both teeth and implants will be shown.

Learning Objectives:
• Describe the benefits of a minimally invasive surgical technique without the need for surface incisions
• Describe the indications and limitations for soft tissue grafting with the tunnel technique
• Describe the special indications for grafting at implant sites

Workshop with Dr. Edward P. Allen – 10/05/2016: Minimally Invasive Soft Tissue Grafting Surgery
Soft tissue deficiencies around teeth impact esthetics and lead to escalating problems. This workshop includes lecture, video surgery, and hands-on exercises to teach minimally invasive techniques using AlloDerm for soft tissue grafting for root coverage and gingival augmentation. Requirements for success and step-by-step surgical protocols will be presented.

The Following Topics will be Covered:
• Current minimally invasive tunneling technique for root coverage
• Microsurgical instrumentation and specialized suturing techniques
• Management of surgical complications
